The aerobic system is much like a living organism. It requires certain things in order to perform properly - specifically food (raw sewage from your house) and air. It can treat most any type of household wastewater. This includes waste/water from the showers, baths, laundry, dishes, and toilets. However, as proficient as the system is, it cannot treat EVERYTHING flushed! It is best to remember that your toilets, sinks, disposal, laundry are not trash cans!
Do not allow any chemicals to enter the system including commercial, industrial, paints, thinners, solvents, drain cleaners, harsh detergents, ANTI-BACTERIAL soaps, cleansers, heavy metals or other toxics. NO PET SHAMPOOS OR DIPS should flow into the system.

Do not allow any discharge, backwash, and/or exhaust from any type of water softener to enter the system. Do not allow surface water to pond around the system. Do not allow non-sewage water flows cause of by rain or ground water infiltration, storm water infiltration, leakage from improperly maintained plumbing fixtures, ecessive volumes of water, etc to enter the sytem. Do not allow air conditioner condensation lines, other than those a/c lines installed directly to directly discharge into the PUMP TANK COMPARTMENT only.

Do not put disposable diapers, paper towels, tampson, sanitary napkins, condoms or any rubber/plastic products. large quantities of paper products, tobacco products (including cigarette butts, filters) or similar items into the system. Do not put NON-biodegradable items into the system.
Do not put coffee grounds, shrimp shells or any level of cooking grease and/or oils into the system. No potato peels, fruit rinds or other shells should enter the system.

We strongly discourage the use of a garbage disposal on any type of septic system, however, if you choose to use a garbage disposal, a grease/trash trap should be installed in front of the septic system to stop undesirable waste materials from entering the system.
Do not put chemicals that are designed to clean out drains or correct "septic problems" like Drano or Rid-X. If you find you have a clogged pipe you may use 1 Tbsp of Muriatic Acid in the lines. However, take caution when using this product. It can be quite corrosive. Use protective eyewear and gloves when handling. If this does not correct the problem then a plumber would be required to use a mechanical auger device or pressurized device to clear the lines.
Please be aware that some medications you may be taking, such as anti-biotics or chemotherapeutic agents, may upset the biological stability of the system.
Remember that your septic system should discharge a clean, clear ODORLESS effluent onto the lawn. If you notice a rotten egg smell OUTSIDE your home - call us for service.
If you find you experience the same rotten egg (sewer) smell INSIDE your home it would NOT be a septic system problem. The system is vented outside and will not allow odor to enter your home. A smell inside the home indicates a dried out P-trap or a clogged sewer vent and you would need to contact a plumber.
Remember that a toilet can be a leaky creature! It leaks from the seal inside the tank. It is always a good idea to test for leaks periodically and replace the tank flapper often. By performing this simple test, you will reduce your water usage and prevent diluting the needed bacteria from your system!
